My Childhood

I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Skopelos Greece. From an early age I was involved in the family hotel business at Skopelos Town. Since I remember myself, there has been an indomitable attraction to any activity within the hotel premises. It wasn’t a few times I dragged a stool to get to the height of the sink to wash the restaurant’s utensils or take the hose to water the plants that my mother lovingly planted.

The Philosophy of Hospitality

My great love for hospitality boosted in my childhood world while watching my father offering treats to the guests who felt “good fellows” of our house, which is why he named our first hotel “The Rigas House” (my father’s  name was Rigas). Aged and youngsters, wealthy and needy felt welcome and equal to the open arms of my family.

I’ve always been a restless spirit, and some people think I’m uncompromising and creative. The search for the positive side of life combined with hard work has always been my challenge and my “bright path”.

The Disease

The great reversal in my life arose when I discovered at 21 that I suffer from Stargardt’s disease (Macular Degeneration of the eye). Gradually and over time my eyesight slumped to 5%. I stopped studying, driving, a lot of activities, and even walking became a problem. I started designing my house to serve the needs of a blind person.

Rigas is my son who plays bouzouki, but his passion is basketball and he wants us to play together. Despite my height (1.95cm) I find it difficult to see and score at the hoop.

These and all the dramatic I described above, however, are now past since I was lucky enough to find the cure to my vision problems with the Medical Acupuncture.

My eyesight over the last five years has begun to come back and along with it normality is restored in my life.

My new goal is to spread the clear message that through Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture and Herbal Therapy, low vision patients can take life back into their own hands. Macular Degeneration is tackled and treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Anyone who wants to ask me anything about my experiences, have no hesitation!

The Vision of the Orasis Acupuncture Institute

After a painful and expensive wander of 25 years in several clinics and hospitals, which did not produce any results, I discovered Acupuncture and managed to halt the path to total blindness. Having performed treatments in two countries abroad, today I continue the acupuncture treatments at my own Vision Acupuncture Institute, with the ultimate goal of completely restoring my vision. For a significant period of time I planned the creation of the Institute that took shape in Athens – Greece in May 2020. I was particularly fortunate that my idea was embraced and adopted by my remarkable collaborators and medical scientists.

The Orasis (Vision) Acupuncture Institute is the bliss and hope of the desperate patients – as I was – who can share their problem with me. However, they can revive optimism about restoring their low vision in collaboration with the excellent Doctor – Acupuncturists who carry out the Acupuncture Treatments at my Institute.
